Papyrus Guest House is the ideal stop-over upon arrival in Uganda or at the end of a safari. When staying with us even the “forced” stay due to flight connections actually becomes an unexpected highlight of your holiday. The central location of the Guest House allows for some very interesting guided activities, all reached within reasonable time:
Mabamba Swamp in Lake Victoria is one of the best places in Uganda to spot the highly sought-after and rare shoebill in its natural habitat and to enjoy excellent birdwatching (more than 260 identified species). The excursions lasts about 3 – 4 hours by motor boat and dug out canoe. A truly special experience not to be missed.
Take a relaxing cruise on Lake Victoria in a local fishing boat. Enjoy sundowner cocktails as the sun sets over the lake. The perfect way to end off a day in Entebbe. Combine this with a trip to Mabamba Swamp for a truly memorable day on the lake.
Take a 90 minute boat tip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The Sanctuary is home to 49 orphaned chimps and provides an excellent opportunity to closely observe these fascinating animals in a unique setting. On the Island you will also see big monitor lizards and abundant birdlife. This excursion takes 4 -5 hours
The botanical gardens were laid out on the northern shores of the lake in 1898, they cover an area of 35 hectares and are perfect for a leisurely stroll and for some excellent birdwatching (115 species registered) – watch out for black and white colobus monkeys and for tree squirrels too! At one time there was a collection of 2,500 species of plants of tropical, sub-tropical and warm temperate zones.
